Who we are
Birmingham PCSG is a friendly support group for people affected by prostate cancer in Birmingham. We welcome men at every stage, whether worried about symptoms, newly diagnosed, in treatment, or living with the long-term effects. We also welcome partners, family members, and friends, because prostate cancer affects the people around us too.
What we do
Monthly meetings: we meet on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at: Legacy Centre of Excellence, Birmingham B6 4UU, in a relaxed safe space where you can talk, ask questions, or simply listen.
Peer support: you’ll meet people who understand what you’re going through because they’ve been there.
Raising awareness: we help spread the message that finding prostate cancer early gives more treatment options, and we encourage men to continue these dicussions with their medical team.
Signposting you to trusted help: we are not a medical service, however, we can help you find reliable information and professional support.
For all of Birmingham’s communities
Prostate cancer affects men from every background, but some communities are at higher risk, and many black men find it hard to talk about. We want every man to feel welcome here, whatever his culture, faith, or background.
Our values
Welcome: everyone is treated with dignity, compassion and without judgement.
Confidentiality: respecting everyones privacy.
Honesty: we share experiences and we point people to professionals when they need them.
Openness: it’s fine to talk, and fine to stay quiet.
Who runs the group
Birmingham PCSG is run voluntarily by a small committee who have personal experiences of prostate cancer and are passionate about supporting men and families in their community.
The best way to find out what we’re about is to come along. You are welcome to just turn up, or to get in touch first if you’d like a chat beforehand.
